Planted with Purpose: A Word for Moms, Dads & The Disciple-Makers

To the mamas and dads, I see you. To the disciple-makers, I see you.
Parenting is such a glorious journey.

Our home, our family, our children—they are our mission field. Our number one mission field. There’s no doubt about that.

But can I remind you of something the Lord whispered to me?

With God, everything is a seed.

Everything.

There was a season I poured myself into the walls of my home— my prayers stitched into every corner, my hands busy building safety and softness, my heart anchored in every detail. I still do - daily.

But at the time, I thought that was the whole call. To tend, to shield, to love well within these walls. And it mattered—oh, how it matters.

But I didn’t see it then that even this was just one part of the planting. That the garden God had in mind is meant to stretch far beyond my doorstep.

Then He reminded me of Abraham.

When He told Abraham he would be the father of many nations, He wasn’t just talking about Isaac. He wasn’t even talking about Isaac’s children. No—He was speaking far beyond that. He was talking about Jesus, who would come thousands of years later. And when Jesus came, He said, “I am the seed of Abraham.”

Jesus was a seed planted by the Father.
And you and I?
We are the harvest.

The Lord showed me: when I got saved—and I was the only one saved in my family at the time—I felt so different. Misunderstood. Isolated. I wanted to hide in my little cocoon.

But He said, “I saved you as a seed. Your family is the harvest.”

That word has never left me.

Because it’s true: every believer is a seed.
Every gift is a seed.
Every act of parenting, every word of encouragement, every step of obedience—seed.

Your marriage? A seed.
Your children? Seeds.
Your life? Planted on purpose.

God is the Lord of the harvest. And He always sows with the harvest in mind.

So yes, mama—I see your heart.
Yes, dad—I see your devotion.
Your home matters deeply. It’s the beginning of everything.

But it’s not the end.

Our children are arrows. Arrows in the hand of a warrior. Instruments in the hand of God, just as you are. You’re not simply parenting—you’re preparing. You’re not just protecting—you’re releasing.

And listen: the Father’s heart is big. His purpose for you, for your family, for the world—it's not small. It cannot be contained in four walls.

If you’ve been saved, you’ve joined a family.
And now your mission is clear:
Bring more brothers and sisters into the kingdom.

We are all evangelists—not because we hold microphones, but because we carry the Holy Spirit. God makes His case through us. We are witnesses of the kingdom. We carry the good news in our homes, in our stories.

So, please remember this: you are a seed.
Your children are seeds.
Your gifts, your marriage, your obedience—it’s all seed, planted by the God who promises a harvest.

So, keep disciplining your precious children. Day in and day out.
Tell them: This is who you are. This is what you carry. This is why you’re here.

Their gifts are beautiful, but their purpose is greater. They are arrows. Soon, they will fly.

That’s what discipleship parenting is all about: raising children for God’s glory. Training them to understand that this isn’t about us. It’s never been about us.

It’s about the harvest.

With love,
